15 Days Community Student tour

We offer students more than usual overseas tour with a learning experience of a lifetime. Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe-Kampala On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, You will be met by our representatives, look out for someone holding a placard with your group name.  We will drive to Kampala and stay in the Ndere Centre. In the evening we will watch a concert of Ugandan drumming and dancing and have our evening meal there.  

Day 2: Kampala-Boomu women’s group In the morning we will start the drive to Masindi town passing through vast open fields, cattle ranches, planted forests, rice fields and plantations. After a brief stop at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary we will continue to Masindi where we will have our lunch and check into our hotel. In the afternoon we will be taken to Boomu women’s village and given a guided tour of the village. You will be introduced to the staff at the project areas; Boomu nursery and primary school, handcrafts project, and the clinic project. We return to Masindi for Dinner Accommodation: Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner  

Day 3: Handcraft project/ school/ clinic After breakfast, you will be taken to the projects. Some people will go to the Local school while others go to the clinic or the handcraft making project and we will get stuck in right away. Packed lunch will be provided.  Return to Masindi, for dinner.

Day 4: Handcraft project/ school/ clinic Spend the whole day at the project, where packed lunch will be provided.  Go back to Masindi in the evening for dinner. Accommodation Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner  

Day 5: Murchison Falls National Park Game Drive You will wake up very early in the morning and drive to the Murchison Falls National park. We do an early morning game drive, a good time to see the predators. Other animals to see in this park are warthog, hyena, elephant, Kob and many more.  You will have lunch at the student center and in the afternoon you will then go for a launch cruise on the River Nile where you will see Hippos, crocodiles and a lot of bird life.  Accommodation: Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner  

Day 6: Transfer to Ruboni Community camp Today, you will begin your journey to Ruboni Community Camp. The drive is incredibly scenic, passing through tea plantations and the lush green countryside which characterizes so much of Uganda. After about eight (6) hours of driving, you stop for lunch in the cozy town Fort Portal. You will then proceed to Ruboni Community camp arriving late evening, check into your room, refresh and relax as you soak in the views of the mighty Rwenzori ranges.  

Day 7: Ruboni Village   In the morning, you will be taken to the Ruboni village and given a guided tour of the village. You will be introduced to the staff at the project areas; Forest conservation, Sustainable agriculture, conservation awareness and Women’s saving cooperative. We return to Ruboni community camp for lunch. Day 8: Ruboni Village   After breakfast, you will be taken to the projects. Some people will take on the Forest conservation and conservation awareness, while others will take on sustainable agriculture and others women savings cooperative and we will get stuck in right away. Packed lunch will be provided.  Return Ruboni community camp, for dinner. Accommodation Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner  

Day 9: Ruboni Village   Spend the whole day at the projects, where packed lunch will be provided. In the afternoon we will have, some workshops in jewelry and basket making and then a cooking with the locals feast extravaganza as our evening meal. Go back to Ruboni Community Camp for the overnight. Accommodation Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner   Day 10: Transfer to Mgahinga National Park Spend half day at the projects, where with packed lunch will be provided. In the afternoon we will drive to Kisoro near Mgahinga National Park. Tomorrow we will be spending a day with the Batwa forest people. Accommodation Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner  

Day 11: Day with the Batwa Forest people After an early morning breakfast, you will set off for the Batwa heritage trail a full  day activity that takes you through the forests of Mgahinga in the company of the indigenous Batwa guides as they interpret every forest landscape and what it mean to their traditional life. The forest provided a natural shelter that always provided a refugee for the Batwa in times of danger.  You learn their wild honey harvesting means, the traditional medical plants, the tree houses, the hunting techniques, the edible roots and plants before arriving at Garama Cave which was the central place for their converging while still in the forest.. You will listen to the sorrowful songs being sung by the Batwa women taking you through the course of their tradition; it is a moment of wonder and deep exploration into the Batwa culture that is at stake of fading away. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 12: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park Have breakfast, with packed lunch transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. After lunch, have a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. Game drive as we head back to your overnight lodge

Day 13: Game drive – Lake Katwe village tour. Today you wake up early. A little before sunrise, breakfast will be served in the restaurant before we head out with packed lunch for a long game drive in time to see the first rays of light. You will search for all the wildlife in the park and are likely to come across Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Waterbuck, Leopard, Uganda Kob, and many Warthogs. We will visit Lake Katwe also known as the salt late, interact with the local communities, visit a women’s community group, you can support their efforts by purchasing a souvenir. We will then game drive back to the lodge.

Day 14:  Transfer to Kampala After your breakfast, you will have another game drive on your way out of the park to Kampala. You will have a stopover at the Equator for lunch, arriving Kampala in late afternoon. Check into your hotel and relax for the night.

Day 15: Kampala city tour and transfer to the airport. After breakfast, we will go on a Kampala City tour and visit places of interest. Lunch will be in an area of the city. We will then drive to the airport for your late night flight back home.   Inclusions Ground transportation on the tour Airport transfers.
